A very, very bearded Stephen Colbert recently stepped back in front of the camera for a small interview with America magazine's Editor-at-Large Father James Martin to discuss Catholicism. It's the first time we've seen the once upon a time Colbert Report host since he ended his show, and we've got to say: we dig the new look. Colbert's appearance has been talked about for a little while, as he was first spotted out with the beard some time ago. But in this new video we remember just how much we really, really enjoy him, and even more so how much we want him back on television. So, come on, let's get the Late Show with Stephen Colbert up and running soon!

Sept. 8 can't come soon enough.

After prepping his George V look, Colbert answers a number of questions about his religion, specifically:

What are you giving up for lent?
If you had one thing to say to Pope Francis what would it be?
Who is your favorite saint?
What is your favorite scripture?
What is your favorite Catholic hymn?

Check out the video of Colbert's interview here:

So, readers, what do you think about Colbert's look? Or, how about his views on Catholicism and the scriptures?

Oh, and kudos to all those other people in the office who somehow kept themselves both cool and calm – and who didn't even look at the camera – while Stephen Colbert was in their offices. Nicely done!

In the end, as the soon to be Late Show host says, "Goodbye Catholics!"

Agreed...
