Zachary Quinto is the latest actor to sign on for a guest-starring role on season 3 of Hannibal. Reteaming with Heroes writer, Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller, the Star Trek Into Darkness actor is reportedly showing up in at least one episode of the 2015 season, as one of Gillian Anderson's character Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier's patients. Knowing that the upcoming episodes will be a mix of the present and past with flashbacks, Quinto's character is a mystery so far, but some theories suggest an important role. We know that Anderson has become a series regular on the show during this new season's production, so Quinto could be a new patient of the doctor in Europe while Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is in hiding with her. On the other hand, with flashbacks playing a major part in the upcoming season, Quinto could be the infamous patient that attacked Bedelia. We've heard talk of this character, in the past, but since she's a bigger character in the upcoming episodes, this could be the case.
If Quinto is this character, we'll get to see him "swallow his tongue," as mentioned in season one, or whatever really happened during her attack. Or perhaps he's just a new character; we'll have to wait for the summer premiere to really find out.
What do you think of this casting news? Are you thinking Quinto will portray this character from the past or a new, unrelated patient of De Maurier's that we don't know yet? Let us know what you think of all of this in the comments section below!
