Elizabeth Escalona Sentenced 99 Years Imprisonment For Gluing 2 Year Old Daughter, Jocelyn Cedillo Hands To Wall

Elizabeth Escalona was sentenced to 99 years in prison for admitting to beating her 2-year-old daughter and gluing her hands to her apartment wall.  State District Judge Larry Mitchell said, "On Sept. 7, 2011, you savagely beat your child to the edge of death. For this you must be punished."

Before sentencing, Escalona's pleaded with the court that she was no longer the "monster" that attacked her child. Elizabeth Escalona said "I will never forgive myself for what I did to my own daughter." In July, Escalona pleaded guilty to felony injury to a child.

Last year, Escalona lost her temper potty training Jocelyn Cedillo. Escalona beat and kicked her daughter before applying adhesive glue on the toddler's hands and putting them on the apartment wall. Cedillo was hospitalized for days in a coma. The young toddler also suffered bleeding in her brain, a fractured rib, multiple bruises and bite marks,

 Prosecutors are asking that Escalona gets sentenced to 45-years in prison. Escalona's could get anything from probation to life. When pictures were shown to the court of the child's injuries, the mother responded, "Only a monster does that."  When she was questioned by Defense attorney Angie N'Duka about being a monster, the mother admitted, "When that happened, I was."

One witness that testified was her sister, Margaret Escalona, who said, "I wanted an explanation. I wanted to know what happened. I wanted to beat my sister up."

Although upset Escalona's sister and mother both asked the judge for leniency and said that she had faced trauma of her own growing up and that she needed physiological help than prison.

"Her being taken away won't help any," Margaret Escalona said.

According to N'Duka, after she was sentenced Escalona asked, "What about my children?" Dallas County prosecutor Eren Price says, "Escalona will be eligible for parole in 30 years.

Escalona's Attorney, N'Duka, said they plan to appeal.
