Earlier this week, we heard from Teen Wolf and Maze Runner star Dylan O'Brien about the recent casting rumors concerning the rebooted role of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The young actor explained that he appreciates the speculation and is open to the idea, but has not been contacted. Now, Freddie Highmore of the TV series Bates Motel has had the opportunity to suggest himself as the Andrew Garfield replacement! Check out what he had to say below!

We've heard of a lot of names being associated with casting the new Peter Parker, and Highmore is on that list. While speaking with IGN this week, the TV star revealed he's definitely up for the challenge if Sony and Marvel want to consider him.
"Obviously I would love to be considered. That would be fantastic. I guess we'll just see how things go," he said in the new interview. ""You always feel like you can identify with him. He's that kind of guy at school who wasn't perhaps in the really cool group, but who was extremely intelligent and managed to find confidence in being Spider-Man - in this other side to his life."
One thing we can say about Highmore is that he has the same nationality as the actor he'd be replacing. We've seen a British star do it before, so there's no reason to doubt this young talent if he is to be cast as Spider-Man soon.
Highmore addressed the fact that he'd be taking over a history as well as a role if he were cast, too.
"As with Norman Bates, some people would always say, 'Oh, is it tricky playing Norman knowing he has this history behind him, and with Anthony Perkins' classic performance that you will always be compared to?'" Highmore explained. "I guess similarly with the actor who ends up playing Spider-Man there will always be comparisons made with Tobey Maguire's sort of great performance and most recently Andrew Garfield."
