A giant eyeball detached from its owner was laying on the beautiful seashore of Pompano Beach in Florida. A man walking along the beach noticed the humongous object the size of a softball (see photo) and reported the mystery to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission who expressed interest in solving the mystery of identifying who the eyeball belonged to.
FWC spokeswoman Carli Segelson told Huffington Post, "This is definitely an unusual situation, where an eye would be found independent of any other body part."
The eyeball has been shipped to the FWC center in St. Petersburg for the researchers to study.
"It will probably take a little while to identify the eye," Segelson added.
A Duke marine biologist named suggested to Deep Sea News that the eye resembled a big swordfish's eye from looking at the photos. Some other sources have suggested that it looked like a squid eye.
What do you think it is? Anyone wants to dress up as an eyeball this Halloween?
