Watch the Red Bull Stratos live stream online video below. Felix Baumgartner will jump from 120,000 feet above earth at the edge of space.
Baumgartner is still determined as ever to complete the skydive mission he has set his heart and life on.
Red Bull Stratos tweeted, "...The next weather window opens on Sunday October 14th."
Baumgartner was also quoted on their Twitter, "We've made it so far, there is no way we're turning back," and "I want to break the speed of sound no matter what it takes. I am willing to go the extra mile."
The Austrian skydiver has been preparing his mind and body for this special mission for five years.
On the day of the Red Bull Stratos launch, the balloon will begin the process of inflation from when the local New Mexico sun rises. The entire process of ascent to 120,000 feet takes almost three hours including two hours to inflate the balloon Huffington Post reported. Once fully inflated, it is as tall as a 55 story building.
This extreme free fall is not simply a daredevil stunt, but it is new history and record in the making. Baumgartner is expected to break the speed of sound.
No one knows what happens to the human body when it breaks the speed of sound, and Baumgartner believes he will live to tell the tale of what it's like.
The 43-year-old is aware of the risks of potential death, however he said bravely, "So many unknowns, but we have solutions to survive."
His protective spacesuit is designed to help protect him from potential dangers of the high altitude and speed.
Dr. Rebecca Thompson of the American Physical Society emailed The Huffington Post,
"It has to protect him through a huge range of temperatures and pressures. If it isn't pressurized correctly or has a leak, he would blow up like a marshmallow in a microwave because the pressure in the stratosphere is so small compared to the pressure pushing out from the inside of his body... The suit will also need to protect him from the extreme force he will experience while falling. The suit needs to make sure that his blood flow continues uninterrupted which can be a problem when he is exposed to the types of forces expected on this jump."
All the protective measures possible to ensure safety for Baumgartner has been put in place. Due to the lack of knowledge of what may happen is what makes this mission historical. One thing for sure is this mission will provide answers to questions unknown.
"Honestly, I have no idea what will happen when he goes supersonic, but I really hope he does so I can find out," Thompson said.
Tune in on Sunday to watch the live stream video. Say a little prayer or two for the "Fearless Felix."
