Two heads are better than one, right? Well, maybe not in this case. It was just announced that The Bachelorette is getting a major shakeup when it returns for its new season. After weeks of back and forth between who would be America's next sweetheart and who would be following in the footsteps of Andi Dorfman, ABC revealed that the show would have two leading ladies for the first time in history. Shocking, right? Bachelor standouts Britt Nilsson and Kaitlyn Bristowe will be the two gals hoping to win the hearts of 25 lucky guys.
The news was announced last night during the "After the Rose" special, where host Chris Harrison promised the viewers that a huge announcement was coming, and ABC News is reporting that the news is pretty gigantic.
"A lot of opinions going back and forth, so here's the thing, we actually decided not to decide," Harrison explained on the program of not picking just one gal for the job. "For the first time in Bachelorette history, we're gonna have two bachelorettes."
So how will this work? Well, the host explained that "the 25 men on Night 1 will have the ultimate say on who they think will make the best wife."
Are Kaitlyn and Britt really up for this huge change to the formula? Well, it seems that while they are super excited for the opportunity, it is less than "ideal," according to E! News.
"What went through my mind was, that's not ideal," Kaitlyn admitted through a smile. "Nothing against [Britt] but ... if that's what it takes to find somebody ..."
Britt is just as apprehensive about the experience, but is definitely ready for it.
"I'm super grateful ... it's more than I can comprehend. We'll just see how it goes!" Nilsson explained.
The new season of The Bachelorette will kick off May 18.
