Jerry Lee Lewis' keyboardist BB Cunningham Jr. was found dead at an apartment complex in Memphis, TN on early Sunday morning October 14, 2012. Police Cunningham Jr. and a 16-year-old boy were shot as victims of a shootout.
The 70-year-old musician was reportedly working as a security guard and was well-liked by the residents.
A local resident by the name of Byny Garcia said to CBS News, "He'd take care of the old people and the Spanish kids. He was a good person. We don't feel good at this moment."
Cunningham was in the music industry since the 1960s when he was a keyboardist and singer for Ronnie and the Daytonas, famous for their song "G.T.O." The band changed their name to Hombres. As the band dissolved, Cunningham continued to work in the music industry behind the scenes. He became a member of the band Jerry Lewis Band from 1997 and also pursued a solo career by releasing "Hangin' In" in 2003.
