The end is finally here. Robin Thicke and wife Paula Patton are officially divorced, MStars News has learned.
According to reports, the long-time lovers were granted a divorce on March 17 — just five months after Patton filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences" in a Los Angeles court.
"We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the couple told People magazine last year when they announced their split.
After months of public apologies on behalf of Thicke, including a very public plea at the BET Awards where he cried on stage, the two just couldn't make it work — especially after Thicke admitted to abusing drugs and alcohol.
"I told my wife the truth. That's why she left me," she singer said in a deposition related to the "Blurred Lines" lawsuit filed against him and Pharrell Williams. (They recently lost the lawsuit and were ordered to pay $7.4 million in damages for infringing upon Marvin Gaye's classic song "Got to Give It Up.")
"Every day I woke up, I would take a Vicodin to start the day, and then I would fill up a water bottle with vodka and drink it before and during my interviews," he said in the file.
The two were teenage sweethearts and were married for nearly nine years before parting. They have a four-year-old son, Julian, who they share custody of.
In fact, Patton credits Julian with helping her get over the separation.
"I mean, the honest truth is, it has been challenging. But it's been a year of growth ... learning about all new things," she told Good Morning America earlier this month.
"The thing is, you can't wallow in sadness or stay in bed when you have a child," she added. "And they're so full of life and wonder. And he brings me so much joy."
