James Cameron will next direct a movie based on the Taylor Stevens thriller novel, "The Informationist" after he winds up the sequels to his worldwide smash-hit movie, "Avatar", according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cameron is now busy wrapping up the shoot of his second and third sequels of the Avatar franchise. His next venture has been uncertain till now. The latest reports have it that "Titanic" director will work on a movie inspired by a novel in collaboration with 20th Century Fox.

According to earlier reports, Cameron had vowed not to touch other projects until the completion of his ambitions, Avatar instalments. However, Stevens' dynamic girl appears to have influenced him to retract his decision. The filmmakers are expected to start doing the ground works in developing the novel to suit the silver screen before Cameron is done with the sequels of costliest alien franchise so far.

The production home of Canadian director - Lightstorm Entertainment -- has brought the rights to the Stevens' novel, which has a female as the main protagonist, Vanessa "Michael" Munroe. This character is often claimed to reflect the heroine of Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth Salander.

"This was an opportunity to continue our relationship with Fox and Jim Gianopulos beyond the 'Avatar' films. We were drawn to this book because of the terrific, compelling narrative and the character, who typifies the strong female protagonists that have inhabited Jim's work. In this case, Vanessa Munroe is essentially a mix of Lisbeth Salander and Jason Bourne," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Jon Landau, partner of Cameron, as saying.

It also reported Cameron talking on the female protagonist of "The Informationist". "Taylor Stevens' Vanessa Michael Munroe is an intriguing and compelling heroine with an agile mind and a thirst for adventure. Equally fascinating for me is her emotional life and her unexpected love story."

Informationist was first publicised by Crown on March 8, 2011 and its sequel book was released earlier this year.
