Singer Bobby Brown has been charged with multiple DUI counts by city prosecutors and is facing the risk of serving up to one year behind the bars, if found guilty.
Brown was arrested for second time in seven months for driving under influence. The prosecutors have accused him of driving without dashboard Breathalyzer, which was against the court order.
Earlier, the court had directed Brown not to hit the streets without Breathalyzer in his car. The officials have claimed that device was missing in his ride when he was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The drivers with the history of DUI should take a breath test before starting the ignition.
The first count claims Brown was driving under the influence with a prior conviction when he was pulled over in Tarzana, Calif, around 1 a.m. Wednesday and refused to take a chemical test, the Los Angeles City Attorney said, according to Daily News.
Brown has been charged with various counts, including driving on restricted licence.
Brown was charged with driving under the influence with a prior and refusing to take a chemical test, driving on a restricted license due to alcohol/drugs and operating a vehicle without a required ignition interlock device, said Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the Los Angeles city attorney's office, reported Los Angeles Times.
In March, the ex-husband of late pop singer Whitney Houston was first pulled over near Victory Boulevard and Wilbur Avenue by the officials for talking on phone while driving. And, subsequently he was subjected to field sobriety test before getting arrested. He was later proved guilty of driving under influence and sentenced to serve the prohibition for the period of three years.
Meanwhile, the latest arrest has supposedly helped the "New Edition" singer to see himself through denials and dilemmas. He is reportedly considering taking up rehab courses again to contain his long-standing alcohol problems.
"Bobby is strongly considering checking back into rehab ... but so far, no decision has been made. We're told his friends support the idea ... but they don't want to push him too hard because they know treatment will only be effective if Bobby makes the decision by himself," TMZ quoted a source close to Bobby as saying.
