Good news, Beyhive! According to producer The-Dream, Beyoncé has hundreds of unreleased songs, including a Fela-inspired album.
"We did a whole Fela album that didn't go up. It was right before we did 4. We did a whole different sounding thing, about 20 songs," The-Dream said in an interview posted on music website, Genius. "She said she wanted to do something that sounds like Fela. That's why there's so much of that sound in the 'End of Time.'"
Beyoncé has been vocal in the past about being inspired by Fela, particularly when she was promoting her album 4.
"I recorded more than 60 songs: everything I ever wanted to try, I just did it," she told Billboard in 2011. "I started off being inspired by Fela Kuti. I actually worked with the band from "Fela!" for a couple of days...what I learned most from Fela was artistic freedom: he just felt the spirit."
But the unreleased Fela-inspired album isn't the only thing that Beyoncé's been keeping from her fans.
"There's always multiple albums being made," The-Dream explained. "Most of the time we're just being creative, period. We're talking about B, somebody who sings all day long and somebody who writes all day long. There's probably a hundred records just sitting around."
The-Dream has worked with Beyoncé for years, and while he seemed to have the inside scoop, he gave no indication about whether or not the unheard tracks will ever be released. He was also mum about the rumored joint record that Beyoncé and Jay-Z are reportedly recording.
Back in January, "Drunk In Love" producer Noel Fisher aka Detail first hinted at a Jay-Z and Beyoncé collaboration.
"I'm working with a couple of new projects that I don't want to unveil, and then me and Beyoncé and Jay Z are actually doing something together this year," Fisher told Billboard.
When asked if he was referring to a single track or a full-length album, he replied: "When you think of Jay and Bey together, you think 'album.' You should already know."
The couple toured stadiums last summer as part of the On The Run Tour, so it only makes sense that a joint album is soon to follow.
