Hurricane Sandy is set to impact 50 to 60 million people. Nearly 60 people dead in the Caribbean, the United States is gearing up for what could be a super storm.

Sandy is set to collide with a winter storm and a cold front which could cause problems 800 miles from the East Coast to the Great Lakes. Preparing for the worse, New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced school closings and subway and rail services will remain suspended at 7 p.m. Sunday.

"You don't want to be over panicked and overly prepared, but you want to be prudent and do what's necessary," Cuomo said.

New Jersey residents along the shore have boarded up their windows and were asked to evacuate. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie who has been on the road campaigning for Mitt Romney is set to return home but advised residents to prepare for the storm and declared a state of emergency Saturday.

"I can be as cynical as anyone," Christie added, "But when the storm comes, if it's as bad as they're predicting, you're going to wish you weren't as cynical as you otherwise might have been."

According to the Associated Press, almost 3,000 flights have been cancelled Sunday.
