A security guard manning the house of actor Tom Cruise used his Taser stun gun Sunday night to stop an alleged prowler from entering the actor's Beverly Hills residence, according to media reports.

News reports state that the suspect sought to climb the fence of Cruise's property and was stopped by the security on duty with a stun gun. The actor and his family were not at home, when the suspicious trespasser tried entering.

The suspect was later detained for trespassing on private property and was taken to hospital for treatment as he had suffered a stun gun attack. There is no report regarding his health.

Meanwhile, there are reports suggesting that the man who sought to intrude Cruise's property was not a prowler but the actor's neighbor, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

A police officer tells City News Service that the man was identified as a 41-year-old neighbor who lives in an adjacent property, and was intoxicated at the time, according to a report of Associated Press on Washington Post.

The alleged bid of trespassing on Cruise's home by an unidentified man comes few weeks after a man with scissors was caught trespassing singer Miley Cyrus' home in Los Angeles. The intruder, later identified as Jason Luis Rivera, 40, was found guilty by jury earlier this month.

Miley and her family weren't home during the time of the trespassing bid.
