Green Day Cancels 2012 Tour Concerts, Advances Release of ‘iTré!’ Album

In a major disappointment to fans, the Green day has scrapped all the scheduled live shows of this year and has postponed the shows slated for the months of January and February, 2013.

As lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong has sought to extend his rehab courses, the band rather had a little choice but to postpone the slated performances.The club tour that was due to launch in Seattle at the Paramount Theatre on Sep 26th was indefinitely postponed after Armstrong headed to rehab following an onstage meltdown during at iHeart Radio Music Festival at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He is undergoing treatment for the substance abuse.

"Obviously the timing for this isn't ideal, but Billie Joe's well-being is our main concern," said bassist Mike Dirnt, in a press release. "We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can't wait to see you all again soon."

Fans those who have brought tickets for the shows will be refunded at point of purchase.  New dates for cancelled shows will be announced shortly and previously purchased tickets will be honored on the new dates, said the Grammy winning rock band.

Meanwhile, Greed Day had advanced launch of the final instalment to its trilogy "¡Tré!" much to the delight of its worldwide fans. The album will be released on Dec 11, this year. Earlier, it was scheduled to hit the racks of the music shops on Jan 15, 2013.

"We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned," said drummer Tré Cool.  "If we couldn't be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing."
