Disney has been moving in the direction of live-action films as of late, and it looks like another legendary movie will be brought to life. A collaboration between writers Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hyneck have put together the script for a version of Disney's 1998 classic Mulan. At this moment the film doesn't have a star, but whoever will don the role in Mulan has the potential to make a bigger splash than Angelina Jolie in Maleficent and Lilly James in Cinderella.

The Chinese legend first found American mainstream success in 1998. The cartoon adaption earned $304.3 million worldwide and had a few Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations.

Now that Disney has seen such huge success with live-action movies, it only makes sense to make MulanCinderella grossed $336.2 million worldwide and it had only been in theaters for a few weeks. Maleficent was the second biggest live-action hit in recent years, though as it garnered $758.4 million.

Of course, the biggest live-action hit of all time would have to go to Alice in Wonderland. That movie grossed $1.02 billion.

Mulan won't be the last live-action cash cow in Disney's future. There are a few more in the works. At some point they'll introduce to a retelling of Beauty and the Beast starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens and Bill Condon in 2017.

If you can't wait until 2017, don't worry. Disney is slated to release the Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland II and a Tim Burton-directed Dumbo.

Dumbo might be Disney's most challenging live-action film, as generally movies about talking animals are not received well by critics and audiences. This is probably why they hired big guns like Burton and producer Justin Springer.

If you're unaware of Springer's work, he was behind special effects-laden movies such as Tron: Legacy and Oblivion.
