Squabbling parents drive toddlers to tears but it seems the ongoing strident presidential debates are also terrifying the toddlers. The unrelenting exchange of words between President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney has left a 4-year-old girl in tears.
Abigael Evans, who is dubbed as the 'Bronco Bama' girl, was reduced to tears after listening to the 2012 presidential debates on radio. This has prompted NPR to tender an apology letter. The toddler's tears seem to be symptomatic of listeners' fatigue all over America.
In its letter, NPR has asked Americans to bear with the Presidential talks for a few more days, besides apologizing to all those who can identify themselves with the 'Bronco Bama' girl.
"On behalf of NPR and all other news outlets, we apologize to Abigael and all the many others who probably feel like her. We must confess, the campaign's gone on long enough for us, too. Let's just keep telling ourselves: "Only a few more days, only a few more days, only a few more days," NPR has written on its blog.
The girl caught the nation's attention after her mother uploaded her sobbing video on YouTube. The video shows an inconsolable Abigael weeping as she was tired of listing to the presidential talks. When her mother asks her why she is crying, she replies "I'm tired of Bronco Bama and Mitt Romney."
This video went viral on internet and has garnered over 3 million views.
