Musician couple, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert was the centre of attraction in Country Music Association Awards Thursday as they swept awards in as many as four categories, while Blake bagged the biggest trophy of the evening: the Entertainer of the Year.
On accepting the Entertainer of the Year Blake said "I'm not sure how this happened, but I freaking love it!" adding that Entertainer of the Year never crossed his mind, according to ABC News, which also broadcasted the show on TV.
Blake Shelton was nominated in four categories, including Entertainer of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year along with Lambert for "Over You," and Male Vocalist of the Year.
He also received the Male Vocalist of the Year award and tweeted "I. Love. Country. Music!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all!!!!!" he tweeted.
With winning a trophy as a couple they created a new record as they became the first married couple ever to win the CMA award for Song of the Year. Meanwhile, the couple were overwhelmed with receiving this award for the song, which is close to their hearts. "Over You," song is said to be inspired by the death of Blake's brother in a car accident.
According to ABC News, Blake said his father had advised him to write about the loss of his brother, adding . "I lost my dad in January. It's amazing that tonight, after he's gone, he's still right.
Besides being nominated for Song of the year at CMA Awards with her hubby, Miranda was nominated in three categories for Album of the Year for "Four The Record, Female Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the Year for "Over You."
Of which she bagged the Female Vocalist of the Year award.
