Season 2 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. rolled along Tuesday night with a new episode entitled "One Door Closes" that brough the "Real S.H.I.E.L.D." to the surface and into conflict with the S.H.I.E.L.D. we have been following all season.

This "Real S.H.I.E.L.D." is a real nuisance, as Robert Gonzales (Edward James Olmos), Bobbi (Adrianne Palicki), Mack (Henry Simmons), and the rest of the group have taken exception to what Coulson and his team have been doing for all of Season 2. They're concerned that Coulson is basically a descendant of Nick Fury, that he keeps secrets, that he has alien blood in him, and that he was at the center of the incident in Puerto Rico with the alien tech.

But Coulson is not Fury, no matter how much the "Real S.H.I.E.L.D." wants to believe that he is. Sure, he keeps secrets, but he hasn't done anything to indicate that he is untrustworthy or incapable of leading the organization. "Real S.H.I.E.L.D." fears another incursion like what happened with Hydra, but their fear is misplaced because Coulson has been nothing but loyal to the side of good for as long as we've known him as a character.

It was interesting in the flashbacks to see that it was Bobbi, not Robert Gonzales, who came up with the idea to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. from the ashes on the Day That S.H.I.E.L.D. Fell. Adrianne Palicki's status as a regular on the series already showed that Mockingbird was sticking around, but this wrinkle makes her all the more important because she is central to the philosophies and values of "Real S.H.I.E.L.D."

But this was not a full heel turn for Bobbi and Mack in this episode, as both showed hints of loyalty toward Coulson's team. Mack saved Fitz from a wall explosion that surely would have either killed or severely injured him, while Bobbi gave Skye just enough warning to stop Calderon's bullet. If push comes to shove, Mack and Bobbi might just side with Coulson.

And speaking of Skye, she got a visit from Gideon in this episode. Ol' No Eyes offered to unite her with the rest of their people and to teach her about herself and her powers. Skye hesitated at first, but she ultimately relented when she took out an entire forest just to stop one bullet. This should make for some wonderful development for Skye, who can finally start to own her powers rather than run from them.

"One Door Closes" pushed the plot forward just enough this week with an exciting and action-packed installment that has me very interested for what's to come.

Notes:

- May vs. Bobbi? Yes, please.

- It was great to see Simmons use her brain to take down Bobbi.

- "That man had an axe. Now I have it."

- Hunter signed his name on a napkin and called it a contract to join S.H.I.E.L.D. because Hunter continues to be great.
