WATCH: Creepy 'The Gift' 2015 Movie Trailer [VIDEO] Jason Bateman & Joel Edgerton Thriller Hits Theaters This Summer

Listen-we all know a person from high school or college that was a little socially awkward, right? Well, in the new movie The Gift, we see what happens when that guy you used to know comes back into your life, only to terrorize you and your new wife, and threaten to reveal a dark secret you've been hiding for years. Okay, so maybe that dark secret part is a little different, but this new 2015 thriller starring Jason Bateman, Joel Edgerton and Rebecca Hall could be the creepiest movie of the year. In other words, make sure to watch this brand new trailer for The Gift below!

As we see in this new trailer for The Gift, Edgerton's character, Gordo appears to be a well-intentioned old acquaintance from the past that just crosses a bunch of lines, ending up being the creepy guy in the movie. And just when we think that we have this film figured out, we learn that Gordo is holding onto a secret from Simon's (Jason Bateman) past!

By the end of this trailer, we're not sure who is the real "bad guy," and that makes this July 31 release even more intriguing to us! Watch this new trailer for The Gift right here:

Aside from the creepy trailer, there's a great viral marketing campaign for the film on Twitter. Apparently, the user "Your Friend Gordo" has been sending some weird gifts to the media, which involve details and knowledge of the recipients' lives! Check out what Slash Film shared right here:

Here is an official synopsis of The Gift:

Simon (Jason Bateman) and Robyn (Rebecca Hall) are a young married couple whose life is going just as planned until a chance encounter with an acquaintance from Simon's high school sends their world into a harrowing tailspin. Simon doesn't recognize Gordo (Joel Edgerton) at first, but after a seemingly coincidental series of encounters proves troubling, a horrifying secret from their past is uncovered after nearly 20 years. As Robyn learns the unsettling truth about what happened between Simon and Gordo, she starts to question: how well do we really know the people closest to us, and are past bygones ever really bygones?
