Feidin Santana, the man that caught a deadly police shooting of Walter Scott on video, has finally decided to come forth and speak out in an exclusive interview with NBC Nightly News anchor, Lester Holt.
According to The Wrap, 23-year-old Feidin Santana was on his way to work when he recorded the final moments of an unarmed black man named Walter Scott shot dead by former Officer Michael Slager.
"I was walking to my job and saw Mr. Scott - rest in peace - and I saw police chasing after him. I was on a phone call and decided to go over there to see what was going on."
Santana added, "They were down on the floor, before I started recording. The police had control of the situation, he had control of Scott."
As for the incident leading up to the fatal shots, Santana described, "Scott was trying to get away from the Taser - you can hear the sound. I believe he was just trying to get away," Santana continued, "As you can see in the video, the police officer just shot him. I knew right away I had something important in my hands."
According to CNN, Santana almost erased the important video in fear for his own life.
"I ... thought about erasing the video," Santana revealed. "I felt that my life, with this information, might be in danger."
"I know the cop didn't do ... the right thing. And like I say, I feel kind of scared about that," he explained.
Santana's video was an important key in revealing how some law enforcement officers have been treating African Americans in the past including some cases like Mike Brown's where an officer shot the unarmed Ferguson, Missouri teen dead. Like Brown, Scott, 50, was a black male.
Santana claims that he had to hand over the video to Scott's family attorneys bring out the true story of what happened after reports didn't describe the same encounter.
"They were very emotional when that happened," Santana claimed after he gave up the evidence. MStars News previously learned that Slager is being charged with murder, and Santana says,"that is nothing to feel happy about, he has his family, but you make your decisions and have to pay for them. Mr. Scott didn't deserve this, and there were other ways that can be used to get him arrested. And that wasn't the proper way to do that."
