Dancing With the Stars star Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his brother, Val Chmerkovskiy, are notorious for stirring up relationship rumors on the set of the reality series as they have often been romantically linked to their dance partners. Maks has been thought to be in a relationship with his most recent partner, Meryl Davis, while Val and his last two partners, Janel Parrish and Rumer Willis, have set the dance floor on fire with reports that they were seeing each other off set. However, it looks like Maksim is putting the rumors about his relationship with Davis to bed once and for all.
The star opened up to Radar Online, where he revealed that nothing romantic has or will happen between him and Davis despite the fact that they are starring together in a production of Sway: A Dance Triology in June in New York City.
"Meryl and I are very close friends," the professional dancers explained. "We just maintained our friendship from when the season was over. We never had anything romantic."
The star also opened up to People where he stated that he just loves working with Davis.
"I can't stay away," Maks revealed. "We love working together. Any opportunity I get to dance with her is welcome."
To further dispel dating rumors, Maks revealed that they started their friendship during the first week of the show and have continued it ever since.
"We had a lot of amazing times on the show, we spoke a lot, started to become friends week one and then we remained friends as the show finished," he explained, adding, "It's not unnatural."
As for who he thinks will take how the mirror ball trophy this season; Maksim is sticking with his blood.
"Do I have a choice with Val on it?" the star jokingly stated. "I think Val and Rumer are one of the ones that have a chance to win."
