Just about one month after police reports revealed Lindsay Lohan and her mother Dina Lohan had a physical altercation in a limousine, Dina praised her daughter for coming clean about the lies she told regarding the incident.
Back in October, Lindsay called her father Michael Lohan and, sounding hysterical, said she was fighting with her mother and that Dina had left a "gash" on Lindsay's body. In an audio recording of the call, the 26-year-old actress claimed Dina was addicted to cocaine and that Lindsay had recently given her mother $40,000 to save her home.
Lohan later recanted those statements and said her mother does not in fact use cocaine.
Now Dina has spoken with "Entertainment Tonight" to set the record straight and say she is proud of Lindsay for ultimately being honest about what happened.
"[Lindsay] came clean and told the truth that she lied," Dina Lohan said on the television show. "I hate cocaine. I don't do cocaine. We were having an argument, it escalated, and she, in her weakest moment called someone. She called [her father] and he recorded the conversation. She just wanted to hurt me at that moment. You know, mothers [and] daughters, we fight."
Dina said the situation caused immense stress for her and her family, and she was glad when the truth came out and the incident was resolved.
"I'm so proud of her for telling the truth because it destroyed me. I mean, I cried for weeks," Dina said.
Lindsay had previously spoken about the inaccuracies of the recorded phone call in an exclusive interview with TMZ.
"I'm really regretful about the argument I had with my mother and it being made public," Lohan told TMZ.
She also said that some of the claims she made about Dina to her father were not true.
"I told my dad a really hurtful and untruthful lie about my mom. She was not on cocaine," Lohan said.
Lohan expressed her disappointment in her father for making their private phone call public and his "insatiable hunger for fame." She told TMZ she is "done" with him forever, adding that Michael "doesn't know what it means to be a father. He doesn't want to be a dad."
