Justin Bieber Selena Gomez Break Up: Did Biebs Propose Marriage to Ex-GF and Get Turned Down (Twice) Before Calling it Quits?

Many rather strange rumors are circulating about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's infamous break up earlier this month - and now some reports have it that the Biebs actually proposed marriage to the "Spring Breakers" star - twice! -before the couple finally called it quits. Supposedly 18-year-old Bieber popped the big question twice in a matter of a few months before the duo eventually headed for splitsville - and both times Gomez responded with "no." Now some sources insist that Bieber constantly texts the 20-year-old starlet, hoping for some sort of friendly reconciliation. Is such gossip merely getting way out of hand?

Blind Gossip recently broke the news of the supposed "proposals" - something which both Bieber and Gomez "agreed to never, never, ever talk about" according to one inside source. "It would be far too damaging to his reputation if people found out that a smaller star turned down a bigger star," the source insist. Soon after Bieb's second proposal, the teen du broke up.

So this is what apparently went down - the "As Long as you Love Me" singer first proposed to the former Disney star months ago but she said no, insisting they should wait a few months. The Biebs popped the question again a few months later, and Gomez shot him down a second time. Then they broke things off altogether, blaiming their busy work schedules (reports claim Gomez was the one to initiate the split).

Oh yeah, and now Bieber apparently won't stop texting his former flame. "Justin is texting her like crazy trying to stay in her good graces," a close "friend" recently told Perez Hilton. The inside source continues, "The problem in the first place is that Selena was a little bit of a jealous girlfriend and Justin wasn't really taking her feelings into regard. Justin doesn't see texting other girls as cheating, but he's promised Selena he'll stop if she takes him back."

Both teen stars seem pretty upset about the break up, but who wouldn't be? They were each other's first loves, right?
