The final instalment of the record-breaking Twilight franchise, "Breaking Dawn- Part 2", has started on a strong note at the box office window, forecasting significant ticket sales over the weekend for the filmmakers.
"Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part-2" movie racked up about $30.04 million from the Thursday night show, said Summit Entertainment, according to Reuters.
According to reports, the fifth film in a book-turned-movie series has surpassed the opening day collection records of its predecessors at the box office.
Last year's "Breaking Dawn -Part 1" collected $30.3 million from the release night, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, the "Breaking Dawn- Part 2" is expected to break the record of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," one of the top-grossing films from the vampire franchise. The second instalment in "Twilight Saga", raked in $142.8 million in its first three days, a record for the "Twilight" films that still stands, reports Huffington Post.
Will Breaking Dawn-Part 2 top as the highest grossing films in its series? It remains to be seen.
The "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2", helmed by Bill Condon, who also directed the "Breaking Dawn Part -1". For the first in a Twilight series, the film features soundtrack composed by the Green Day band.
The American rock band has composed "The Forgotten" for the film.
"Breaking Dawn Part 2" will end the popular vampire franchise based on Stephanie Meyer's book.
