The country is slowly ... slowly ... slowly ... slowly legalizing the use of marijuana. As states like Washington and Colorado have already done it (and seen an enormous boost in revenue), there are other states in our great nation trying to do the same. The unfortunate downside of marijuana being legal in states is that it is still illegal in the country. What that means is that the federal government still has control over the state marijuana laws. Which leads to marijuana busts and a whole heap of a mess. But if California Republican Dana Rohrabacher has his way a new bill proposed, it looks like the Feds will soon have to respect those marijuana laws that states enforce.

In what he's calling the Respect State Marijuana Law Act of 2015, Rohrabacher is attempting to "require the federal government to respect states that have ended prohibitions on the plant," according to The Huffington Post.

The Republican reportedly introduced the bill back in 2013 and was joined by five members of the Republican party as well as six from his opposing party, the Democrats.

Rohrabacher notes that it is time the federal government stop being "overaggressive weed warriors," and join the likes of the states that have lessened the laws on marijuana.

He says, "The American people, through the 35 states that have liberalized laws banning either medical marijuana, marijuana in general, or cannabinoid oils, have made it clear that federal enforcers should stay out of their personal lives."

For more about the state-by-state fight against the federal government in terms of marijuana, head on over to The Huffington Post.

Marijuana fans were delighted to spark up earlier this week in what's become an unofficial holiday––4/20. And while it's currently off-the-record, comedian and Real Time host Bill Maher is on a journey to make it a national holiday.
