Lawmakers in San Francisco are getting ready to vote on an ordinance to ban public nudity. The blanket ban, which is being eyed by officials may be caused by the two-year  escalation between men of the city's famous gay Castro District that walk through naked.

The ban would make it illegal for anyone over 5-years-old  to roam the streets naked. Supervisor Scott Wiener's proposed "expose his or her genitals, perineum or anal region on any public street, sidewalk, street median, parklet or plaza."

If passed a first offense could lead up to $100 fine, but a third violation could be a misdemeanor and lead up to a $500 fine and at least a year in prison. According to the Associated Press, Wiener said, "I don't think having some guys taking their clothes off and hanging out seven days a week at Castro and Market Street is really what San Francisco is about. I think it's a caricature of what San Francisco is about."

How many Mstarz readers think the ban will stick?
