According to TheWrap.com, Hank Azaria, who is known for the voices of Moe Szyslak and Chief Wiggum is suing over character rights. Wednesday, Azaria and his company filed suit in a U.S. District Court in Central California against Leap Year actor Craig Bierko. Azaria claims that a movie deal is in jeopardy after Bierko filed claim over a character Azaria created almost 30 years ago.

The voice Azaria is fighting for aren't of that of Springfield's favorite bartender and police chief, but  "a colorful baseball announcer who speaks with peculiar speech inflections" he created in 1983 before ever meeting Bierko in 1990 According to the suit.

After a Funny or Die skit in 2010, Azaria's famous voice received much attention. The video of a sportscaster became a hit that Azaria began, "to entertain discussions to develop a feature-length motion picture based upon the Jim Brockmire Character who uses the Azaria Voice."

In the suit Bierko claimed he, "has created a cloud over the rightful ownership of the Azaria Voice (which is an integral part of the Jim Brockmire Character) such that Plaintiffs' ability to develop a feature length motion picture based upon the Jim Brockmire Character is being significantly impeded."

In the suit Azaria is asking for rights for his character, Bierko can not claim any rights to the voice and attorney fees and court cost would be covered.
