The comic book industry was changed forever by The Dark Knight Returns, and Bruce Wayne, the aged Batman, was never the same in The Dark Knight Strikes Again. DC Entertainment has announced The Dark Knight III: The Master Race, from creator/writer Frank Miller (Sin City) and co-writer Brian Azzarello (Wonder Woman).
In the first installment, just because Bruce Wayne has retired, that doesn't mean the crimewave in Gotham City has stopped. After donning the Bat-suit again, Bruce finds himself inspiring a young Carrie Kelley to wear the Robin costume. Just as old foes return, Batman fights himself in a fight to the death against Superman.
In the second installment, Lex Luthor is now running the U.S. government and has complete control over Superman, Captain Marvel, and Wonder Woman as he holds their loved ones hostage. Rounding up the last remaining survivors of the Justice League, Batman delivers an all-out assault on Luthor. Though he has aged, the Dark Knight is even more dangerous as he's utterly happy beating criminals to a pulp.
The Sin City: A Dame To Killer For writer/director announced on his official Twitter account, shared a sneak peek with the caption, "I hope that by now my silence is deafening."
Miller has joined with the critically acclaimed writer of the 100 Bullets for the the eight-issue comic book periodical. The third installment to be published twice a month under the DC Comics imprint.
According to DC Comics official site, in their statement, Dan DiDio and Jim Lee, Co-Publishers for DC Entertainment, are thrilled for this third chapter, "The story he and Brian have crafted is an astounding and triumphant conclusion to this seminal body of work which influenced and shaped generations of readers and creators alike."
