Norman Reedus Says Konami Cancelled 'Silent Hills' Video Game - Gameplay Teaser Trailer w/ 'Walking Dead' Star & Director Guillermo del Toro Abandoned?

After the release of the playable teaser gameplay demo trailer at 2014's Gamescon, the excitement around the Guillermo del Toro video game with Konami, Silent Hills erupted, with hopes to learn release date news and see more footage of the new title mounting. Set in the Silent Hill universe, this new title was already pretty groundbreaking, in that the first trailer was interactive, but most of the attention was on the game's star, Norman Reedus from AMC's The Walking Dead. Well, after a few months of speculation, reports have surfaced saying the new game has been cancelled. Reedus himself took to Twitter to confirm this sad news.

Many sources are pointing to the recent split between Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami going separate ways as one of the reasons for Silent Hills' cancelation, but whatever the reason, we're sad to see this news (via Gamma Squad).

"Super bummed about this was really looking forward to it." Reedus said in a Twitter post about this news. "Hopefully it'll come back around. Sorry everyone."

As you can tell from this post, Reedus was very excited about this new video game. During a recent Ask Me Aynthing session on Reddit, he opened up a bit about this project. "I'm super excited to be a part of [Silent Hills]," the actor and new face of the Silent Hills video game said during his AMA session, according to IGN. "Both [Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro] are geniuses at what they do. We haven't shot the heavy stuff yet." This confirmation from Reedus comes after del Toro was quoted saying the game was cancelled (via Undead Walking):
