Helicopter Found Eight Years Later With Two Bodies On Board: Pilot Brendan Hiatt Helps New Zealand Police Solve Hughes 500 Mystery

A local pilot in New Zealand helps police find an eight year old helicopter wreck with two bodies on board. After DNA testing is performed, the two bodies may be that of a British tourist Hannah Timings, 28 and pilot Campbell Montgomerie,27.

The chopper that crashed in 2004 has been confirmed to be the Hughes 500 that vanished eight years ago with the two people on board. The young woman was on a six-month backpacking trip across New Zealand from London when she was declared missing.  According to the Belfast telegraph, the fallen helicopter was spotted by another pilot, Brendan Hiatt who was traveling with four American tourist were heading to Queenstown when he seen the helicopter covered in snow. 

The missing helicopter was searched for by police for two-weeks which failed to find the missing persons,"I spotted something glinting that just didn't look quite right amongst the snow, so I said 'we'll just take a look,'" Hiatt said. The wreck was later found in the Fiorland region.
