Steeler's nation welcome baby Benjamin Jr. Roethlisberger to the team. Wednesday night, the star quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger and his wife Ashley welcome their baby boy.
The announcement of the little bundle of joy came on his website where the athlete said his son was born weighing 7 ponds, 1 ounce measuring 191/2 inches around 10;06 p.m. Ecstatic about his new arrival Roethlisberger said, "We would like to let everyone know that last night at 10:06 p.m. Ashley and I welcomed a healthy, beautiful baby boy into this world," he added, "Both mom and baby are doing well."
Grateful on his new arrival he expressed his gratitude "We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, it really means a lot to us. God is so good!"
When the quarterback announced that he and his wife were expecting, he told people that his newborn would arrive during the middle of the season, "I'm not missing the birth of my child," Roethlisberger said. "There's no chance. I know some fans probably don't want to hear that, but there's no chance."
According to the Post-Gazette, Steeler teammates saw a glow in the fresh father's face, offensive tackle Willie Colon said, "He came in with that big ol' proud papa chest, that big ol' smile. I think for him, with everything that he's been through, to have a son and you can tell he's extremely excited about it," he said. "It's kind of like a weight off his shoulders -- you can tell he's been anticipating it. I'm happy for him."
When his wife was in her third trimester the football star talked about his expectations on fatherhood, "It's exciting and it is a little bit scary, too. It is," he said. "Before long, you're going to have this little life that you're taking care of. But I've heard nothing but great things from people [about] just how it will change your life. I'm just so excited for that challenge."
