Did Ndamukong Suh of the Detroit Lions get the dirty player of the year award after Thursday night's NFL game? The Defensive Lineman rushed quarterback Matt Schaub, but was blocked by offensive lineman Derek Newton, and as he fell he extended his leg back up kicking the the quarterback in the groin.
What seemed like a dirty play by Suh was impossible to determine, but commentators questioned the "leg extension," CBS's Phil Simms reaction had his audience feel the same, "Oh, he got kicked." Even the Houston Texans quarterback had no words to say, "I don't really have anything to say about that play or that person," Schaub told reporters.
During the CBS halftime show, the vibrant Shannon Sharpe expressed his opinion saying, "This was intentional. You see the force? Look at the force with which he did that," he added, "There's a reason why he's the two-time reigning, voted dirtiest player in the NFL by his peers, because of plays like this...."
Last year, Suh was suspended for two games after he stomped on Green Bay Packer guard Evan Dietrich-Smith's arm, Boomer Esiason said, "This is supposed to be a brotherhood. You're supposed to have respect for one another out there." He continued, "Bruce Smith, I could always shake his hand. Reggie White, I could always shake his hand after a game. I would never shake this guy's hand because, once again, he has crossed over the line, and it's obvious that it was on purpose."
Should Suh be punished for the fol play?
