'Silicon Valley' Season 2 Recap: Will Thomas Middleditch's Richard Hendriks Find 'The Lady?'

From the comedic mind of Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-head), Season 2 of Silicon Valley continues on HBO. In Episode 4, will Erlich Bachman (T.J. Miller), Richard Hendriks (Thomas Middleditch), and the rest of the tech gang restart Pied Piper with 'The Lady?'

Continuing with his plans, Gavin Belson (Matt Ross) starts Hooli XZY, a new and fake subsidiary to promote Big Head (Josh Brener). Unfortunately for Big Head, the new XYZ co-founder doesn't realize he's being used by Gavin. Even the other founder doesn't like him and his own boss mistakenly calls him, "Bag Head."

Meanwhile, Richard and Jared (Zach Woods) are meeting with other candidates for employment at Pied Piper. One of the candidates doesn't have any skills except for "crushing it" and the other thinks he's a cyborg because of his pacemaker. Richard actually likes the cyborg but Elrich doesn't like the guy because of a past experience. Elrich warns Richard that the cyborg will use him to get a better job offer. 

 Gilfoyle (Martin Starr), and Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) have someone in mind who they think Richard should look into. The trio realize it would be nice to have a female programmer, but gender shouldn't be relevant. Either way, jared thinks they need "a Yoko to their Beatles." After their first meeting, Richard and Jared meet Carla (Alice Wetterlund), who happens to be overqualified and broke.  

Monica (Amanda Crew) joins Richard and Elrich for a meeting with millionaire Russ Hanneman (Chris Diamantopoulos). At his mansion, Hangman has a voice-activated Nanny program, called The Lady, that tells his son to brush his teeth, take his medication, and when to go to sleep. Russ looks like his son's best friend, while the mother looks like the enemy.

During their budget meeting, Elrich isn't happy that Monica and Richard are in agreement that they should hire the cyborg. To get back at them. Erich agrees with Russ that Pied Piper should start thinking of branding their names onto mousepads and puzzle cubes. Russ is invited to a charity event, which he cannot attend, and hands over the ticket to Elrich. 

After being hired, Richard has to give Carla a big speech about sexual harassment. Carla has fun with it by talking about her best friend named, "C*nty." After noticing her Dolce and Gabana bag, Gilfoyle and Dinesh become jealous of her, thinking she's making more money than them. It turns out Carla was just messing with them and the bag was fake. 

Richard hears from Jian Yang (Jimmy O. Yang) that he couldn't get into the charity event with Elrich because he wasn't rich enough to get inside. Richard tries to make right with Elrich but ends up getting into an argument instead. Richard turns down the cyborg but he already has a better job offer from Russ. 

The truck arrives with all the stuff Russ ordered, from T-shirts to big foam hands. The question is, what the hell are they going to do with it?
