Considering all of the Star Wars properties that Lucasfilm and Disney have in the works right now, we can hardly go a day without hearing new casting rumors or plot spoilers for at least one of them. Perhaps the second most important film besides 2015's The Force Awakens is the 2016 Anthology spin-off movie, Rogue One, which has been at the center of plenty of speculation. The latest rumors now claim that Diego Luna has joined the confirmed Felicity Jones for the Gareth Edwards movie, with talk around Ben Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed still showing no signs of going away. According to a new report from Variety, Luna is joining Jones and Ahmed as members of the group of bounty hunters that try and steel the plans for the Death Star, set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Character names have yet to be revealed, but this news hasn't even been confirmed by Disney yet, so we're not sure when a confirmation will take place.
The report from Variety does not include Mendelsohn's name in the group of adventurers, pointing out that he is most likely the villain of the film. Considering his recent roles in Place Beyond the Pines, Animal Kingdom, Bloodline and this year's Slow West, he's the right actor for such a role.
Luna is a recognizable actor, with a filmography ranging from comedy, drama, sci-fi and even includes roles behind the camera (via Slash Film).
