'Bill & Ted’s Most Triumphant Return' #3 Review: Keanu Reeves' Wyld Stallyns Are "Hilarious!"

If you loved the sci-fi buddy comedies, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, the Wild Stallyns are back, better than ever! Ted "Theodore" Logan (Keanu Reeves) and Bill S. Preston (Alex Winter) are an incredibly hilarious duo in BOOM! Studios' Bill & Ted's Most Triumphant Return #3.

As we previously mentioned, The Great Ones have to fulfill their destiny and deliver their next big hit. Worried about becoming one-hit wonders, the slacker duo needed inspiration before they could achieve galactic harmony. Time traveler Rufus (a wonderful nod to the late George Carlin) provided some wisdom and set them again on the right path. In the second installment, the time-traveling duo step into the future, discovering a younger Chuck De Nomolos, who believes he's destined to hate the rock stars. 

In the third installment, Bill and Ted take Chuck around in their time machine, hoping to change his dreary outlook on life. As Ted puts it, person can change their future because, "You don't have to stay on the twisted and bogus path." Unfortunately, Chuck takes the profound message and misinterprets the meaning. 

Writer Brian Lynch gets his main characters to deliver their snappy comebacks and funny one-liners. Lynch makes the point of saying nothing is etched in stone, especially when it comes down to history books. The comic has an important message to tell readers; who you are as a person dictates your future. 

My favorite pages from artist Jerry Gaylord are when the story allows him to illustrate different time periods. Gaylord drops Bill & Ted in the middle of Woodstock and we only see Jimi Hendrix in silhouette. During the Old West, Gaylord depicts the Billy The Kid getting into a fight with everybody in a bar. 

A funny-as-hell read, Bill & Ted's Most Triumphant Return #3 is comedic gold.
