Who knew that if we ate correctly we'd be happier people? Of course, it's hard to believe that when things like bacon, nachos and powdered sugar have always made us happy and have never let us down. Well, you know, until later in life when our doctor tells us of all those obesity problems we have as a result of them. Regardless, we'll try and put aside our food-loving minds for a second and deliver unto you, our readers, the top three foods we can all eat to live happier and be happier... supposedly.
Is it true? Who knows, but it probably doesn't hurt to try.
3. Fruits and Vegetables
You've probably heard time and time again how good both fruits and vegetables are for you, but apparently they can lead to a happier existence as well. How so? Well, per a report from Huffington Post (via Health.com), a higher intake of fruits and veggies results in "more energy, calm and greater sense of happiness."
So, if you're looking for that inner peace, perhaps it starts with an apple... or a banana... or a strawberry... or a cucumber... or – okay, you get the point.
2. Dark Chocolate
Chocolate lovers rejoice! Our bad habit is STILL on the list. Well, kind of. Milk chocolate seems to be the fan favorite but the same report notes that dark chocolate is actually proven to make you happier, and not just because we LOVE chocolate. It's actually because it can "reduce levels of stress hormones." Therefore, eat that chocolate up, readers.
1. Coffee
Thank whatever deity you believe in that this is on the list, because we simply cannot (and will not!) give up coffee. Sure, tea is fine. But coffee? Well, come on. Thankfully, the report lets us into the fact that consuming coffee in the morning is linked to "energy, kindness and pleasure." Which makes sense because have you ever tried speaking to someone who hasn't had their morning coffee? Nine times out of ten – they're terrible humans.
Folks, what other foods make you happy? Healthy foods, not pizza.
...though we'll accept that because it's wonderful.
