An Egypt Air flight had to make an emergency landing when a passenger was bit by a snake that had been smuggled on the plane. Screams were said to be heard by the passengers and the victim who was bit by the Egyptian cobra.
Jordanian passenger, Akram Abdul Latif tried to smuggle the snake aboard on his carry-on bag. Somehow the snake made his way out the bag and began crawling underneath passengers seats. The flight holding 90 passengers was heading to Kuwait from Cairo when it made an emergency landing at a Red Sea resort town Al Ghardaqa's Hurgada airport.
As flight attendants tried to calm the frantic passengers they desperately tried to protect themselves. According to The Jordan Times, Adli Saad,senior Egypt Air official said "trying to control the reptile as other passengers were terrified when they saw it crawling under their seats. It was then," Adli added, that his animal attacked."
The passenger is recovering form the the snake bite, which could have cost her life. A cobra's venom could kill a person within 15 minutes. Officials have confiscated the snake and no word has been said if the smuggler would face charges.
