The legendary British rock band Rolling Stones will perform at the 12-12-12, the relief concert for hurricane Sandy that is set to begin Dec. 12, at Madison Square Garden in New York, said organisers Dec. 7.
Rolling Stones will join the stellar line-up that will include The Who, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Bon Jovi, Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters and Kanye West.
"We wanted to put together the greatest rock show ever on one stage, and we realized we were missing one group," John Sykes, president of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises told TIME.
The concert will be broadcasted to over two million people in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia said their website. The concert will be available via TV, radio and Internet.
The concert will be also helped out by celebrities like Steve Buscemi, Jessica Chastain, Chelsea Clinton, Sean Combs, Billy Crystal, Leo DiCaprio, Jimmy Fallon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Karlie Kloss, Seth Meyers, Bobby Moynihan, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Susan Sarandon, Jon Stewart, Kristen Stewart, Quentin Tarantino, and Brian Williams.
"The destruction was shocking. It took days to understand the level of destruction that occurred along the Jersey Shore," said Springsteen in a concert promo for the Fuse channel release, Dec. 6.
All the proceeds from the show will go to the Robin Hood Relief Effort. The hurricane killed more than 110 people and destroyed homes, schools and hospitals of thousands of people, AFP reported.
The Rolling Stones will be New York, Dec. 15 for the world tour that kicked-off in London in November, as they mark their band's 50 years of existence. This will be the first of three concerts in U.S.
