For the first time in the long history of the popular international football (soccer) video game series, we'll get to see female players in upcoming FIFA 16 gameplay in the form of the Women's National Teams from all over the world, just like their male counterparts. EA Games didn't hold back in the creation of these athletes either, and made sure their digital likenesses were given as much detail as possible for great in-game experiences. The star athletes include Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe, Abby Wambach and many more! FIFA 16 has a release date set for Sept. 22, 2015 on PC, PlayStation 3 and 4, and Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Speaking with IGN in regards to this new introduction of female players, FIFA VP and GM David Rutter opened up about why it took this long to include these athletes and how it was done!

"It's come about in a bunch of different ways. We've been chatting about it in the game team for a couple of years now. As you may or may not know, there's been petitions to have women put into the game, and I'm lucky enough to be the father of two amazing little girls, and both of them play FIFA a lot," Rutter said. "They consistently pester me [about] why they can't play as women. We've always felt that there were things that needed to be done in the game that were more pressing - making passing work, or shooting etc. - but the fact of the matter is that the tools and the technology that we have on the game team now is at a level where you can really do the authenticity of the women's game justice."
