Eminem goes country?
Nah - but apparently Florida Georgia Line rocker Brian Kelley is a huge fan of the infamous "Rap God!"
Kelley and bandmate Tyler Hubbard are "redefining" the genre with their latest album release, Anything Goes (via The Tampa Tribune). FGL's second studio record premiered in October 2014, and the first single "Dirt" quickly peaked at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart:
So do MstarsNews readers find it odd that Kelley's unique sound includes slight elements hip-hop, considering he spent years listening to Slim Shady during youth?
"That reflects what we grew up with," Kelley said in a recent interview with TBO's Ed Condran. "We just didn't listen to the same style of music. I grew up listening to Garth Brooks, but I also listened to Eminem."
The MMLP2 superstar consistently shocks fans with rather unexpected and sometimes even bizarre song collaborations. Should Em next hit the studio with this popular bro-country duo?
Perhaps the Detroit emcee would approve of Kelley's attitude and creative process alongside Hubbard:
"I think we take people away from the depressing stuff. Escape isn't a bad thing," the "Cruise" crooner explained. "We were on the same wavelength from the beginning... We're like brothers. We really like to write together. It's been amazing."
Loyal #Stans were ecstatic when Shady teased his newest track "Phenomenal" in two separate promotional clips:
Obviously, "The Monster" lyricist is NOT ditching rap to focus on a career in country OR rock 'n' roll (despite recent heavy metal band rumors). So while Shady oversees production of the official soundtrack for Jake Gyllenhaal's upcoming sports drama "Southpaw," Florida Georgia Line will continue touring throughout the summer and fall of 2015 (view the dates and lineup here). But will the "Guts Over Fear" hypeman release yet another solo album anytime soon? Stay tuned for further updates!
