The mystery/suspense drama, Wayward Pines, from The Sixth Sense director, M. Night Shyamalan continues on Fox. In Episode 3, will agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) be able to stop Beverly (Juliette Lewis)'s killer from claiming his next victim before it's too late?
In our previous recap, Secret Service agent Ethan Burke (Dillon) was in the middle of an investigation when his car was suddenly hit by a truck. Outside of Wayward Pines, Ethan's wife Theresa (Shannyn Sossamon) is wondering why her husband has gone missing. Waking up, Ethan finds himself trapped in a strange town where anyone could either be an ally or enemy.
Just as Ethan and Beverly (Lewis) were able to find a map, their plan was discovered by Kate (Carla Gugino) and her husband Harold (Reed Diamond). Sheriff Pope (Terrence Howard) decided to make an example of Beverly after she was captured by the townspeople. In a public execution, Ethan helplessly watched from afar as Sheriff Pope slit Beverly's throat.
In an interview with TV Guide, showrunner/executive producer Chad Hodge reveals the Grim Reaper will strike again, "The story was all planned out and that gave me the ability to talk to the actors and tell them exactly what happens with their characters in a way you normally can't do with television. It wasn't like, 'Oh, we got Juliette Lewis; let's have Beverly live a lot longer.' No, that's the story. That character dies in the second episode and another character dies in the next episode."
In tonight's episode, Ethan's wife Theresa (Shannyn Sossamon) and son Ben (Charlie Tahan) are on a road trip to Wayward Pine. The mother and son duo will have a less-than-welcoming encounter with Sheriff Pope. Could either of them be next?

Hodge also dishes to TV Line, " "Not everybody wakes up in the middle of the forest; there are different ways [to get there]. All - or most - of them have learned to play by the rules, or you're going to get killed like Beverly did."
