Two boys are accused of robbing a woman with a loaded gun. Allegedly, the boys ages 7 and 11 tried to carjack a 22- year-old woman who was waiting in a church parking lot for her parents in the family car.
During the robbery, the two boys demanded her cell phone and cash, the 11-year-old told his co-robber to "show her your piece." According to the Portland police statement, "The woman again refused to give them anything and she drove away, calling 911. As she pulled away, she saw the 11-year-old pull the gun from his pocket."
When police arrived at the scene of the church parking lot, the boys were caught and the 11-year-old was in possession of the loaded .22 caliber handgun. The statement said, "Officers told the 11-year-old to keep his hands out of his pockets but he ignored the officers and tried putting his hand back in his pocket," the statement continued, "Officers grabbed his arms and recovered a cocked and loaded .22 caliber handgun in his pocket."
Because of their young age the children were placed in their family's custody, however the 11-year-old tried to escape, but was later detained by officers.
