People can't get enough of the Amish. The Discovery Channel has signed on a new reality TV show called "Amish Mafia" that focuses on men from the closed community in Lancaster, PA who uphold the law and other secrets.
The "Mafia" leader, Lebanon Levi controls the team of Mennonite who resolve disputes in the Amish community throughout Pennsylvania's Dutch residents. The Amish men spend majority of their time upholding the law and enforcing it throughout Lancaster.
Although, the Amish tend to stray away from modern technology and rather cruise in a horse and buggy than a vehicle with horse power, the reality television world can't get enough. Other networks are straying away from the Jersey Shore and searching for action in the last place anyone has ever expected. The National Geographic's "Amish: Out Of Order" and Discovery sister-network TLC's "Breaking Amish" are among many favorites in reality TV.
Media critic Michael Levine said, "Reality television and the Amish are really a match made in TV heaven." Levine added, "It is a controversial concept and reality feeds on controversy," Levine said. "It's outrageous, it's mysterious and it's unexpected."
