Back by popular demand, the iconic sci-fi/horror series will premiere on Fox in 2016. Will paranormal investigators Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) face a scarier Cigarette-Smoking man (William B. Davis) in the highly anticipated revival of The X-Files.

As we previously mentioned, 13 years have passed since FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were on the TV screen solving weird and supernatural cases. The reboot of Fox's popular sci-fi series continues with 6 brand new episodes. Not only are the leads set to reprise their iconic roles, creator Chris Carter will takeover as showrunner for the franchise that launched his and many other careers.

In an interview with Den of Geek, Davis reveals he will "definitely in the first episode," and may also reprise his role in "some of the episodes" of the limited run. The Cigarette-Smoking Man will return but he's not quite sure how. The last time we saw the antagonist, he was blown up by his own undoing.

The Messengers actor teases where the storyline picks up, "I asked [Chris Carter] if Mulder and Scully were a couple like there were at the end of the series and the indication was no, they were apart. Now whether they've been a couple of separated or if they go back in time and they've never been a couple, I don't know. It seems like it's going to be a somewhat different take than the finale left us in."

We also mentioned, Millennium writer Darin Morgan, who wrote the classic episode, José Chung's From Outer Space, is returning as well. Frank Spotnitz, who co-wrote the second The X-files film feature, I Want To Believe, is in question though.

Duchovny described reading the script of the first episode, "I just read it about an hour ago and I started crying reading the first page. It was just so strange to see the names on the page. It had nothing to do with the script itself. It was just like, I'd been talking about this for a long time. We'd been planning it for a long time. It took a long time to get all the people in the same place and get the deal with Fox."
