Reports confirm that aspiring rapper Shaquon "Young Pappy" Thomas was shot and killed in Uptown Chicago early Friday morning (May 29). The 20-year-old hip-hop enthusiast was an alleged Gangster Disciples member who repeatedly mocked rival gangs in several viral videos posted on Youtube.
Pappy's latest clip where he "glorifies gun violence and gang life" was entitled "Shooter" (via The Chicago Tribune). He tauntingly rhymes alongside Lil $hawn, "You don't even know how to shoot" -
According to the Tribune, this was the third attempt on taking Pappy's life Authorities confirm that he was walking with a friend in the 4800 block of North Kenmore Avenue at around 1:35 a.m. when an indentified gunman started shooting. Pappy was hit twice in the back ans quickly rushed to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Three popular street gangs are prominent in this area of the city - the Conservative Vice Lords, the Gangster Disciples, and the Black P Stones. Pappy had several run-ins with the law before his tragic death. Read more on the full story here.
In another video entitled "Homicide" (posted back in April), Pappy raps:
"We pop out at night but you can still get smoked at noon... Head shots rolling up on the dead ops (opposition). I don't lack, I got my gat (gun)."
