Earlier this week, rapper Snoop Dogg shared a rather controversial Instagram post regarding Bruce Jenner's recent transition to Caitlyn. Several fans were angered with the West Coast emcee's "narrow" view on "real" news. However, some followers actually agree with Dogg's take on glorified celebrity gossip. So - what do MstarsNews readers think?
On Wednesday (June 3), the "Gin and Juice" superstar sparked a huge social media blowout with this explosive message:
snoopdogg: "News flash. @akon tune in to ggn for some real news."
Dogg is referring to his popular cyber network GNN that features web shows and news podcasts (via GossipCop.com). Fellow hip-hop sensation Akon is currently working on a solar power intiative deemed "Lighting Africa" which was launched just last year. The project aims to "seeks to provide a concrete response at grass roots level to Africa's energy crisis and lay the foundations for future development."
So, is this more "newsworthy" than Jenner's viral sex change? The comments continue pouring-in, and reactions are mixed:
roccsecurity: "exactly Snoop. The media & this brain dead society needs to refocus on whats important."
trees_maestro: "You could have gotten your point across without stooping down to such a low level. Pretty scummy even for you."
liswif_ferg: "One person using his wealth to help 600,000,000 people. The other uses his wealth for what exactly?"
sankoze: "so you cant respect both? f*ck off."
madelinekellyxo: "the day that his big special was on tv Nepal was having an earthquake, the earthquake was not too much in the news but Mr. Jenner and his Issues were."
xnikicarsonx: "Extremely rude, intolerant and transphobic. This man is clearly uneducated and narrow minded."
ru.mak: "100% agree, wtf Bruce Jenner is becoming a female affecting how many people (his family like 10 people) and akon changing the lives of 600 million people in a 3rd world country."
nicntg: "This is important, but Caitlyn is super culturally significant too and deserves respect."
kalithegreatest: "Bruce Jenner situation ain't a matter of life and death... This is!!! So miss me wit all the bs."
ghibligirl: "And why is this Caitlyn Jenner's fault? Your hate towards her, rather than the news stations, is disgusting. Hate your country for giving you what gets ratings."
Good points made on both sides. The "Right Now" crooner has yet to respond, so stay tuned for further updates.
