Rapper Ma$e is finally set free by rapper and record producer Diddy after 16 years. Ma$e who took a hiatus in 1999 only to return after two years is all cheered up now.
Ma$e had a recording agreement with Diddy and Bad Boy Records signed during the late 1990s.
Ma$e opens up in an interview with MTV's RapFix Live discussing his future plans. "I've been in that contract for 16 years," he said. "Yeah, the other day he let me out of it, so big shout-outs to Diddy, I guess he woke up feeling good and he wanted to do something good."
After the release of his second album "Double Up" (1999) he went into retirement only to return in 2004. He also did a short stint at on 50 Cent's G-Unit label. Ma$e blamed Diddy for the failure of those plans.
"You know why it didn't go through. Diddy didn't let it go through," he told. "He wanted 50 to give him all of the money he thought I owed him."
But Ma$e still loves Diddy despite his ups and downs with him, "He's an excellent businessman. If I was going to war, I'd wanna go to war with Puff. Because I know he doesn't back down," he said.
Now he is out of the agreement whom will he work with? "There's only two people that I would work with, and it would have to be one of those two, but the second one is probably gonna surprise many of you. The only two that would make sense to me would be Kanye or Drake - even though he doesn't have a label, those are the only two that I would entertain."
Ma$e wanting to work with the Toronto rapper certainly comes as a surprise but Ma$e has a reason for it. Drake reminds Ma$e of himself, "I think that he's the closest to what I believe I would've been, if I didn't leave music," he explained. "I like his ability to express how he feels, not being afraid, and he can really rap. So that's really the only two I would think about."
MTV News also reports that Drake has signed up with Warner Bros. Records for his OVO imprint, Dec. 5.
