During an onstage chat between popular comedians and satirical television hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert at a fundraiser for the Montclair Film Festival in New Jersey, the 50-year-old "Daily Show" star confessed that Hugh Grant is currently banned from his hit Comedy Central fake news program. During Grant's "Daily Show" appearance to promote his 2009 film "Did You Hear About the Morgans?," the 52-year-old's very diva-esque behavior (both on and off air) made him such a big "pain in the a##" that Stewart now considers him the "worst guest ever." During his rant about the romantic-comedy actor, Stewart even confesses that he had a better time chatting with certain dictators on the show than he did with Hugh Grant.
Colbert and NJ-native Stewart participated in an intimate, fireside-like chat at Montclair's Wellmont Theatre in order to raise money and awareness for the Montclair Film Festival. The two comedic pals casually discussed their lives and careers, but when Colbert suddenly asks who Stewart considers to be his worst "Daily Show" guest ever, the funny man is quick to answer with Hugh Grant:
"He's giving everyone sh## the whole time, and he's a big pain in the a##... And we've had dictators on the show." Stewart insists that after that 2009 appearance, Grant will never again be invited back to his "Daily Show" studio.
Stewart's comments were met with audience applause and giggles. Apparently Grant's onscreen charm doesn't always present itself in real-life interviews.
Grant tried to come off as a funny wise guy during his 2009 "Daily Show" interview with Stewart, but he ended up looking like a rude, pompous jerk. At one point backstage, Grant apparently expressed his disapproval of the short movie clip of "Did You Hear About the Morgans?" that was provided by his publicist. The British actor exclaimed:
"What is that clip? It's a terrible clip."
Stewart shot back with, "Well, then make a better fu##ing movie."
