American Pharoah has official nabbed the title of winner of the 147th Belmont Stakes, which means that we have the first Triple Crown champion in just under 40 years. The last time it occurred was back in 1978. Now, while many are reeling in the uber excitement caused by American Pharoah's victory, we couldn't help but think that as the horse is ever so deserving of the praise, there are a few other horses in history that we can't help but love a wee bit more.
Therefore, let's take a looksee at the top 3 horses we probably still love more than American Pharoah.
3. Mr. Ed from Mr. Ed
Perhaps one of the most famous horses in television history, Mr. Ed was able to steal our hearts and make us laugh oh, so many times throughout the series' eight year run. Was the premise ridiculous? Of course! But that didn't stop us from making it a hit.
2. Chestnut from 2 Broke Girls
It's not easy keeping a horse in Brooklyn but somehow Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs are able to do so in their CBS comedy 2 Broke Girls. Now, as viewers, we're not complaining. But as neighbors? Well, that'd be a different story...
1. Pie-O-My from The Sopranos
For a couple of episodes in Season 4 of HBO's The Sopranos, Tony Soprano got a little obsessed with a race horse named Pie-O-My. The horse was initially Ralph Cifaretto's (played by Joe Pantoliano), but ended up going to Tony––as did most things on the show. Unfortunately – and we won't go into detail – things didn't go too well for Pie-O-My, who ultimately died in a fire.
Readers, got any other famous horses? Or does American Pharoah trump them all? Let us know below!
